Customs Seized 8,000 Liquor Bottles
The Customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port recently foiled attempts by unidentified persons to smuggle 8,208 bottles of whisky into the country, reports Al-Seyassah.
According to Customs source officers at the port suspected two containers coming from an unidentified GCC country although the bill of lading said the container was carrying a cargo of wood, the booze was neatly hidden in a professional manner. When the containers were scanned, the officers found they contained bottles of booze.c

One of the containers contained 3,000 bottles of Red Label whisky while in the other container there were 5,208 bottles of the same brand. Director General of General Administration for Customs Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi said the officers are always alert at the entry/exit points to prevent the inflow of contraband into or out of the country. He said credit goes to the Customs officers for shouldering the huge responsibility to protect the safety and security of this country. Without giving more details, the daily said the booze has been confiscated.
