Court Ordered An Expatriate To Pay A Fine Of Kd 3,000 For Sending Lewd Messages
The Misdemeanor Court ordered an expatriate to pay a fine of KD 3,000 over alleged misuse of the WhatsApp app through which he exposed the plaintiff to immorality and lewdness. According to the lawsuit filed by the plaintiff counsel Lawyer Maryam Faisal Al-Bahar, her client was surprised by the number of weird calls and WhatsApp messages she was receiving from an unknown individual. Investigations carried out by officers from the Cybercrime Department identified an expatriate as the culprit, after which he was apprehended and taken to court. The lawyer urged the court to impose maximum penalty on the suspect, as he attacked her client’s honor and her reputation. She affirmed that she will file another lawsuit for demanding compensation worth KD 5,001 for the various damages incurred by her client.
