Contingency Plan And Quick Action To Save Lives
In implementation of the directives of the Council of Ministers during its meeting last Monday, the concerned state authorities prepared for the rainy season, and with the increasing expectations of an increase in the level of rain during this winter, the Ministry of Works is racing against time to check on complete readiness, especially in hot spots in the governorates of Jahra and Ahmadi.
During the past few days, the Ministry conducted a comprehensive cleaning process for rainwater in a number of areas, as well as examining the water pumps in the tunnels.
Informed sources said that the ministry’s instructions to maintenance managers in the governorates included the need to alert contractors to equip emergency teams to work side by side with the teams affiliated with the ministry, in order to deal with the situation on the ground first and foremost.
sources reported that the preparations for the works come in parallel to the emergency plan approved by the Ministries of Defense and Interior, in addition to the “firefighting”, civil defense and the National Guard, to move quickly in time of danger and save lives and property in the event of drowning in the areas.
The Kuwaiti Civil Defense Committee headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Committee Lieutenant General Issam Al-Naham held a meeting yesterday to discuss intensive preparations, equipment and preparations for the rainy season. During the meeting, the channels of continuous cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of the Interior and the relevant agencies in the country were emphasized, in order to confront the rainy season and reduce its negative repercussions and effects to the lowest level. During the meeting, Lieutenant General Al-Nham welcomed the attendees, and conveyed to them the greetings of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and Chairman of the Civil Defense Committee, Anas Al-Saleh. The meeting was attended by officials of the Interior, Defense, National Guard, Fire Service, Municipality, Electricity, Roads, Land Transport, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Meteorology Department
