Commerce Ministry Plans To Cut Ration Supply Of Sugar And Rice

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in implementation of the decision issued by the Council of Ministers will study the disbursement of basic food supplies to people with low incomes and review the individual’s share.

In this regard, the Al-Rai daily said, Commerce in coordination with the Ministry of Finance will begin to tighten the supply belt and reduce the quantities of “rice” and “sugar”, while a proposal to reduce infant formula has been turned down.

The sources pointed out “the plan is to reduce the rice quota from 6.25 per person to 5 kilos, which means returning pre 2009 and sugar to one kilo instead of the current two.
