Bangladeshi Taxi Driver On Rampage For KD1.5 Fare
In the case filed against a Bangladeshi taxi driver who was detained for fighting with four Arab expatriates, Judge Ahmad Al-Sadi adjourned it until next Wednesday. As per the case file, the expatriates stopped the taxi driver in Bneid Al-Gar. After they told him where they wanted to go, he said the cost of transporting them to their destination was two dinars.
However, the four refused and said, "We will pay you one and a half dinars." The taxi driver refused and left. Minutes later, he returned to the location and hit one of them with his car, injuring the victim but the others were able to save themselves. Once the car hit the victim, the taxi driver fled to the Shuwaikh Industrial Area to replace the taxi's windshield.
A camera installed outside a house in the area captured the entire incident, which was used to arrest and imprison the accused. When the victim and his friends were standing by the road in Bneid Al-Gar, a taxi driven by a Bangladeshi taxi driver stopped in front of them. After they failed to reach an agreement with him about the price of the trip, he told them to find another taxi driver. Although they were still waiting for another taxi, they were surprised when the taxi driver returned after some time. He stopped in front of them for two minutes, and then charged at them, hitting one of them with his vehicle. As a result, the victim fell to the ground, and the taxi driver fled the area.
