The campaign was held based on instructions from the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas. It was followed up by the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs in the ministry Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh. The traffic police were present at the venue with him. The campaign was also under the leadership and supervision of the Assistant Director General of the Department of Coordination, Followup and Learning headed by Brigadier General Khaled Mahmoud
Citations issued to motorists and cyclists.
Brigadier General Mahmoud explained that 600 violations were recorded in three hours in an exclusive press release. A total of ten violators of the residency law were arrested, an administrative “block” seizure was signed on 550 vehicles, six juveniles were arrested for driving a vehicle without a driver’s license, and citations were issued for about 70 violations by delivery bike riders for not wearing a helmet and not holding a driving license at all. He went on to explain that the campaign aims to deter recklessness, arrest wanted persons, violators of the law, and those who drive without valid insurance documents.
In all governorates of the country, weekly traffic campaigns will continue non-stop. The goal is not to issue traffic citations, but to educate motorists and bikers about the need to abide by traffic regulations and laws, which have been put in place for the benefit of citizens and residents. It is also aimed to protect lives and properties from violations resulting from serious accidents that lead to the loss of life or serious injuries. BG Khaled Mahmoud hoped everyone would cooperate with the police who take the time to be outdoors in this hot weather to protect society and impose the law.
