A Kuwaiti Was Jailed For 6 Months For Ill-treating His Father

After beating up his old father, a Kuwaiti newspaper reports that a young Kuwaiti has been sentenced to six months in prison on a charge of filial ingratitude.

In response to a legal complaint, the son was referred to a misdemeanor court, Al Qabas said.

According to the report, the defendant slapped and kicked his father in the face after he demanded that he behave himself and stop disturbing neighbours.

The court said filial ingratitude is an "unforgiveable crime" and assaulting them is a "heinous act" in issuing the custodial sentence to the young man.

There was no information about the defendant's age or when the attack took place in the paper.
