A Focus On Global Expertise: Kuwait Welcomes 39 International Doctors

06 February 2024 Kuwait

In an effort to fortify medical expertise and enhance patient care standards, the Ministry of Health in Kuwait is preparing to host 39 visiting consultant doctors from distinguished international medical centers throughout February. Covering a wide array of medical specialties such as ear, nose, and throat (ENT), ophthalmology, orthopedics, oncology, internal medicine, and neurology, these visiting specialists aim to contribute significantly to Kuwait's healthcare landscape.

Dr. Muhammad Al-Azmi, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Ministry of Health, unveiled this initiative, emphasizing its pivotal role in fostering academic and professional collaboration with esteemed global universities and medical institutions. The program is designed to facilitate knowledge exchange, provide training opportunities for local medical professionals, and introduce advanced treatment modalities for complex medical cases across various specialties.

During a press briefing, Dr. Al-Azmi stressed the importance of leveraging international medical expertise to address critical healthcare needs within the country. By engaging visiting consultants in patient care and surgical procedures, Kuwait aims to deliver superior healthcare services domestically, alleviating the need for patients and their families to seek treatment abroad. Additionally, the presence of international specialists is expected to enhance technical and medical proficiency across different medical specialties, ultimately leading to an enhancement in healthcare quality.

The visiting consultant doctors will play dual roles: offering medical consultations and performing surgical interventions, while also conducting training sessions for local medical and technical staff. Dr. Al-Azmi highlighted the enthusiastic support extended to the program by Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, Minister of Health, and Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, emphasizing its strategic importance in advancing healthcare delivery in Kuwait.

Patients seeking specialized medical care can easily schedule appointments with visiting doctors through the "Sahel" and "Q8Seha" applications, ensuring convenient access to expert healthcare services.

In a parallel development, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shatti, Director of the Medical Emergency Department, announced the upcoming launch of the conference titled "Emergency Medical Services… Current Reality and Future Aspirations" on the 18th of this month. Under the patronage of Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, the conference will feature 10 working sessions, encompassing 40 scientific research presentations, and three workshops, aimed at scrutinizing various aspects of emergency medical management services.
