7 Years Imprisonment For Bangladeshi Shahid, Al-jarrah, Salah Khorshid In Human Trafficking, Money Laundering Case

The Court of Cassation has sentenced the Bangladeshi MP Muhammad Shahid, to 7 years imprisonment with hard labor. The court also ordered his deportation after serving the sentence and slapped on him a fine of KD 2,710,000 fine after finding him guilty of the charges filed against him.

The Cassation Court also sent to prison Major-General Mazen Al-Jarrah for 7 years and Nawaf Al-Shalahi to 4 years in prison with hard labor and a fine of KD 1,970,000 each, reports Al-Rai daily.

The court also found former MP Salah Khorshid guilty and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment with hard labor and fined him KD 740,000 Kuwaiti and acquitted MP Saadoun Hammad of the charges filed against him.

Earlier the men were arrested and referred to Public Prosecution for their involvement in ‘human trafficking’ and money laundering.

The prosecution charged Muhammad Shahid, managing director and CEO of a local company, with human trafficking, money laundering, and exploiting his compatriot workers after hearing testimonies of five Bangladeshis, who confirmed that they had paid money of up to KD 3,000 in exchange for coming to Kuwait, and that they were also paying annual sums for renewing their residence permits.

The other who were found guilty by the court worked in collusion with Muhammad Shahid and were partners in crime
