Director of the Residency Affairs General Department in the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Yousef Al-Ayoub has announced that all concerned departments at the ministry will carry out intensive campaigns to arrest Residency Law violators who neither amended their status nor left the country within the grace period stipulated in the relevant ministerial decision.
Al-Ayoub said the grace period is one way of reducing the number of Residency Law violators, warning that whoever provides shelter or hires a violator will be punished as per Article 12 of the Foreigners Law; which stipulates penalties such as six months imprisonment or maximum fine of KD600.
He also affirmed the continuation of campaigns to find fake companies that hire workers from other countries without providing them jobs once they arrive in Kuwait, stressing these companies will be blocked and referred to the Public Prosecution. He added the ministry recently launched new online services for citizens and expatriates; stating that the higher committee tasked to address the demographic imbalance issue has had a number of meetings to study the recommended solutions such as setting a quota for each community of expatriate workers.
