415 Properties Cut Off From Electricity On Expat Bachelor Residences Raid
A report detailing the accomplishments of the committee tasked with monitoring singles' housing in private and family residential housing areas has been compiled by the municipality.
Eng. Saud Al-Dabbous, the Acting Director General of the Municipality, reported in a letter addressed to the Minister for Municipal Affairs and the Minister for Communications Affairs, Fahd Al-Shoula, that during the period, 415 properties across all governorates were monitored, resulting in electricity being disconnected. Eng. Al-Dabbous elaborated on this in the report.
Referring to the letter from the Vice President of the Government Performance Monitoring Agency, dated 10/31/2023, and Article Nine of Ministerial Resolution No. 128 of 2023, dated 4/16/2023, which established a committee to address bachelors' housing, Eng. Al-Dabbous emphasized that the committee regularly submits reports detailing its work and recommendations for the Minister of State for Municipal Affairs to take appropriate actions. As a result of the committee's initiatives, initiated immediately following the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No., the comprehensive report was submitted to the ministers. A coordination meeting was held on 4/26/2023 to standardize procedures for dealing with bachelors' housing in all municipalities.
In its full formation, the committee held its first meeting on 5/31/2023, followed by meetings on 7/26/2023 and 10/23/2023. Committee members discussed the challenges they faced, solutions they found, and the accomplishments of field teams during these meetings.
Eng. Al-Dabbous also detailed the review of the mechanism used to cut off electricity to properties occupied by single individuals in private and model housing areas, along with the obstacles faced by the municipal executive body in carrying out its tasks related to this matter.
In the aforementioned period, the Environment Public Authority issued 23 violations across all governorates, and the Public Authority for Manpower suspended 49 company files due to workers being monitored in these violating housing units.
Eng. Al-Dabbous noted that the committee received 580 complaints and reports from all governorates, demonstrating the widespread impact and concerns of bachelors' housing.
