41 Representatives Attend A Parliamentary Coordination Meeting
According to informed sources cited by Al-Rai newspaper, the National Assembly is set to convene its opening session on Sunday, April 21, following the constitutional deadline of 14 days post-election. Representatives will have the option to attend the session as per their discretion.
A parliamentary coordination meeting was held on Sunday, with 41 representatives in attendance. Representative Saud Al-Asfour revealed that five representatives expressed their apologies for being abroad during the meeting.
During the session, discussions revolved around formulating a mini-legislative agenda due to the brief duration of the initial session. High-priority items on the agenda include addressing the high cost of living, social assistance, matters related to the Election Commission, real estate financing, issues concerning the disabled, the Kuwait Petroleum Industries Company, extending judicial authority to nationality matters, and amending election laws.
Al-Asfour also disclosed the restructuring of the coordinating committee responsible for organizing legislative priorities and parliamentary committees in the 2024 Council. Coordination among representatives is underway to ensure consensus in committee formation.
Expressing optimism, Al-Asfour stated, "We hope to witness government-parliamentary cooperation that contributes to fulfilling the aspirations and general welfare of the people."
Members of the coordinating committee include Saud Al-Asfour, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saqabi, Dr. Badr Al-Dahoum, Hamad Al-Obaid, Abdullah Al-Anbai, Badr Nashmi, Dr. Adel Al-Damkhi, Dr. Mohammed Al-Dowsary, and Muhammad Gohar Hayat.
