35,455 Citations Issued - Gtd

The General Traffic Department (GTD) conducted surprise campaigns in various parts of the six governorates from Oct 9-15 resulting in the issuance of 35, 455 traffic citations. In a press statement, the department disclosed that the campaigns led to impounding of 539 vehicles, 17 motorbikes and a vehicle used in criminal activity. It also resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals for committing major traffic violations, whereas five expatriates were referred to the Deportation Center for driving without a license. The department affirmed that the campaigns will continue round the clock throughout the country to ensure that traffic laws are implemented properly for the safety of road users.
