15 Kuwaiti Agencies Join Forces For Rainy Season Planning
According to Al-Rai daily, the Ministry of Public Works is preparing for the impending rainy season by collaborating closely with relevant authorities, such as Civil Defense and the General Fire Force, as well as several organizations that have formed the Rain and Flood Consequences Committee.
"Last week, the Rain and Floods Consequences Committee, which includes 15 agencies, convened to discuss their readiness for the upcoming rainy season," according to reliable sources within the Ministry of Works.
Members of the committee thoroughly examined the ministry's plan and the specific tasks it will undertake during this meeting. Each entity will execute its respective responsibilities in the event of heavy rain surpassing the drainage system’s capacity.
The sources added, "The emergency switchboards of the relevant authorities will be interconnected with the civil defense switchboard to ensure seamless coordination between all parties."
According to them, "the Ministry is currently cleaning manholes and drains, removing sediments and plankton that can obstruct rainwater drainage."
Additionally, they stressed that "the Ministry will work with the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport to ensure the safe operation of tunnel pumps, aiming to prevent any congestion, particularly during intense rain events."
Ministry sources indicated that the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is nearing completion of maintenance and isolation of roofs for secondary transformer stations that require maintenance as part of its preparation for the rainy season.
During rainy periods, this measure is intended to prevent seepage into the station components. About 90 percent of the insulation for stations' roofs in need of maintenance has been completed by the sector.
