In 1934, Cairo saw the inauguration of the first official Arab government radio station, broadcasting its signals across the entire region. Over the years, a deep connection has developed with the captivating melodies of renowned singers, transmitted via the frequencies of Radio Cairo. From legendary singers like Umm Kulthumm, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Asmahan, Laila Murad, Farid Al-Atrash and Abdel Halim Hafez to beloved artists such as Shadia, Fayza Ahmed, Warda and numerous others, their melodies have imprinted themselves upon our hearts.
This concert, scheduled for April 17th at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ali Concert Hall, will revisit a repertoire of enchanting songs that once adorned the airwaves of Egyptian radio. The timeless melodies will be presented by the choir and the musical ensemble under the direction of Kuwaiti conductor Dr Khaled Noori, who has skillfully rearranged the tunes to align with modern tastes.
