PAM Forms Temporary Committee To Run Kuwait Farmers Union
The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has approved the formation of a temporary committee to manage the affairs of the Kuwait Farmers Union. This decision aligns with Ministerial Resolution No. 5 of 2025 and aims to preserve the smooth operation of the Union’s services until a newly elected board is in place.
The decision comes amid the absence of an elected board of directors, raising concerns over the continuity of services and representation for local farmers. PAM clarified that this temporary measure is essential to prevent disruptions to farmers' interests and to uphold the Union's mission during the transitional period.
Appointed Members of the Interim Committee
- Ahmed Musleh Dhaher Al-Adwani – Chairman
- Fahd Misfer Jaber Al-Hayyan – Vice Chairman
- Ahmed Nasser Tayeb Al-Shak – Secretary
- Obaid Nasser Abdullah Al-Funaisan – Treasurer
PAM Clarifies Committee’s Limited Scope
PAM emphasized that the interim committee is strictly temporary and will function solely until new elections are held in accordance with relevant Kuwaiti laws and regulations. The authority also stated that it will not assume legal responsibility for any actions taken by the committee during its tenure.
This clarification comes in the wake of growing concerns over the governance of cooperative and sectoral unions in Kuwait. PAM’s intervention reflects broader efforts to maintain transparency, legality, and operational integrity across key public interest sectors.
Support for Farmers Amid Administrative Transition
The appointment of the committee underscores the government's intent to safeguard the rights and livelihoods of farmers across Kuwait. Until an elected board resumes control, the interim team will ensure that the Union’s resources, programs, and services continue without disruption.
Similar administrative interventions have previously been undertaken by government entities to uphold legal and operational standards within cooperative societies and professional unions, such as during the reorganization of certain cooperative societies in Kuwait. Read more.
Looking Ahead
While the temporary committee handles current affairs, preparations for the next round of union elections are expected to commence soon. PAM reiterated its commitment to facilitating a fair and transparent election process that will allow farmers to choose their new representatives.
