Moi Extends Retirement Age To 65 Years
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has cancelled the decision taken by the ministry to terminate the services of Bedoun and GCC employees, both civil and military, who are 60 and above years of age. As a humanitarian gesture, he extended the age limit to 65, in consideration of their social and financial conditions.
Many of these employees are still paying installments of bank loans and have social conditions, indicating that this extension of age limit will apply for nearly 1,200 employees.
Also Board Member of the Retirees Society Anwar Al-Sharhan praised the efforts exerted by Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subaih concerning the official declaration of the society.
Al-Sharhan revealed the society handles issues related to retirees and does its best to respond to their demands. He said the society helps retirees overcome their financial, health and social problems. He urged all relevant authorities to increase the minimum monthly pension for retirees and lay down an effective mechanism to ensure yearly pension increment for them. He also stressed the need to provide retirees with health insurance and exempt them from fees for services in various authorities.
