Kuwait Probes Iranian Citizen’s Fraudulent Nationality Case
Forgery Discovered Through Archival Records
According to sources, the Nationality Investigations Department received intelligence indicating possible forgery. A review of the National Archives showed that the individual had been referred to the Public Prosecution in 1968 on charges of falsifying citizenship documents. His alleged father later confessed to manipulating official records to include him in his citizenship file, leading to the father’s conviction and subsequent deportation.
Illegal Return and Citizenship Reinstatement
Despite being deported, the Iranian national illicitly reentered Kuwait in 1973. With the assistance of a National Assembly member, who lobbied the Ministry of Interior on his behalf, he managed to have his Kuwaiti citizenship reinstated. At the time, a formal decision to revoke his citizenship was never issued through the Council of Ministers. Instead, authorities had merely confiscated his citizenship certificate, sentenced him to prison, and expelled him from the country. Following his illegal return, he obtained a replacement certificate and regained his citizenship status.
Multiple Identities and Forensic Investigation
Recent forensic analysis exposed that the deceased individual had assumed four separate identities in Kuwait, each linked to distinct fingerprints. His aliases included:
- A Kuwaiti citizen
- A stateless person (Bedoun)
- Two different identities as an undocumented Iranian national
Advancements in forensic technology, which previously relied on manual verification, confirmed that all four identities belonged to the same individual.
Genetic Testing Confirms Fraud
Further investigations revealed discrepancies in the biometric records of the individual’s supposed children. DNA testing confirmed that he had no biological ties to the person registered as his father in official documents.
Implications and Ongoing Citizenship Investigations
This case highlights the necessity of stringent verification processes to prevent fraudulent citizenship claims. Kuwaiti authorities continue to enhance their forensic and biometric procedures to detect and eliminate nationality fraud cases.
