Kuwait's Assistant Undersecretary of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Sheikha al-Adwani affirmed need to enhance constitutional and legal frameworks in areas of safeguarding national security, and combating terrorism and drying up its funding.

This came during Al-Adwani's press remark to KUNA on Tuesday at the conclusion of an Arab ministerial conference on terrorism and social development. She stressed the necessity of boosting national efforts and coordination on regional and international levels to eliminate this phenomenon.

"Terrorist entities and extremist groups have tampered with the countries' security and terrified their nations," she said. She added that such acts by these groups violate humanitarian norms, and run counter to all moral and Islamic values and principles.

The conference discussed some working papers submitted by a number of Arab countries on their experiments regarding countering terrorism. Kuwait's working paper reviewed measures taken by some ministries to combat this scourge, Al-Adwani noted.

The State of Kuwait has been also affected by terrorism which tried to destabilize the country's security and divide national unity, she made clear. Kuwait has been an oasis of safety and security for the country's segments through cooperation between the public and private sectors, Al-Adwani stressed.

She said that the paper focused on achievements of Kuwait's Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor aimed to protect youths from being affected by extremist ideas. The official stated that Kuwait jumped to the 56th spot in 2016 from the 110th in the previous report issued in 2013 in the youth development field. She reiterated that the conference contributed to promoting Arab solidarity and cooperation to counter terrorism.
