Dead Fish Seasonal Phenomenon
The seasonal mortality of fish in Kuwait’s territorial waters continues as large quantities of dead fish were washed ashore on Shuwaikh beach recently, reports Al-Rai daily. In this context, Director of the Department of Biodiversity Conservation at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Dr Abdullah Al-Zaidan affirmed that Shuwaikh beach has been witness to the phenomenon of fish dying sequentially in April each year, noting the dead fish phenomenon during their migration can be attributed to several factors, which include illegal fishing practices and disposal of sewage or untreated water into the sea.
