In Just Two Years, The Civil Service Bureau Sees A Surge Of 10,000 Registrants

18 April 2024 Kuwait

The Civil Service Bureau is facing a significant surge in the number of citizens awaiting nomination and appointment within its systems, with registrations surpassing 13,000—a stark increase compared to approximately 3,000 registrations recorded two years ago.

Recent statistics published by Al-Rai newspaper highlight the widening gap between current registration numbers and those from two years ago, indicating a pressing need for strategic responses from the Service Bureau. The bureau has been actively nominating batches of candidates to address job vacancies across ministries and government agencies in accordance with the established job needs plan.

Insiders at the bureau, speaking to Al-Rai, attribute this surge to changes in previous employment policies that had led to a notable decrease in registrations. However, the current situation presents a sharp contrast, with the number of registered individuals exceeding 13,000, despite challenges in approving and nominating candidates.

Among the registered candidates, there are 6,168 individuals with university degrees, 111 with master's degrees, and three holding doctorates. Additionally, there are 2,389 citizens with diplomas, 863 with secondary certificates, 1,341 with intermediate certificates, and 1,133 with primary school certificates.

Sources emphasize the urgency of addressing the underlying reasons behind the spike in registrations and the need for collaborative efforts among relevant authorities to prevent the situation from exacerbating. Managing the growing pool of registrants poses a significant challenge, especially considering the annual influx of graduates awaiting opportunities for appointment to government agencies.
