Financial And Economic Affairs Comtte Will Tackle The Kcci Draft Law

The Financial and Economic Affairs Committee will meet on Sunday to tackle the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) draft law in the presence of the KCCI chairperson. This came after Committee Rapporteur MP Saleh Ashour received the response of Al-Saleh to his question about the draft law, disclosing the latter said the government referred the draft law to the National Assembly.

Moreover, the Education, Culture and Guidance Affairs Committee will discuss on the same day the policy and plans of the Ministry of Education with Minister of Education and Higher Education Hamed Al-Azmi.

In addition, the Handicapped Affairs Committee approved the proposal to issue disability certificate only once and cancel the re-evaluation process. The committee also approved the proposed establishment of branches of the Public Authority for Handicapped Affairs (PAHA) in service centers or cooperative societies to process transactions for people with special needs in order to reduce workload at the headquarters.

This is in addition to obligating officials at the authority to allot one day per week to look into the complicated cases of people with special needs and their families. It endorsed as well the proposal to establish an advanced autism center which will be called ‘Kuwait International Autism Center’ consisting of experts in the fields of Psychiatry, Behavior Modification and Occupational Therapy as well as speech, communication and vocational trainings.

The center will include behavior modification, diagnosis, evaluation, behavioral skills development and speech therapy units. Amid series of citizen-centered bills surfacing each passing day and the widened gap between the legislative and executive authorities, MP Khalil Al-Saleh has decided to submit a draft bill this week to grant married Kuwaiti women paid maternity leave up to three years.

The lawmaker affirmed that the bill is to ensure support for Kuwaiti women, indicating it’s a way of fulfilling the pledge of overcoming obstacles against them at work. He explained the bill favors Kuwaiti families, and it’s considered a form of relief to the burden of child
