Egyptians And Indians Involved In Blood Test Fraud

21 February 2022 Crime News

According to Al-Seyassah daily, the Court of Appeals, led by Judge Nasr Salem Al Haid, sentenced eight expatriates – Indians and Egyptians – to ten years in prison with hard labor for tampering with blood test results at the Sabah Al-Salem Health Laboratory after receiving bribes from expatriates with infectious diseases. Three of the accused were detained and imprisoned, according to sources, while the other five fled the country.

According to sources, the ministries of Health and Interior's agencies in charge of expatriate issues, notably the Residency Affairs Department, undertook investigations that led to the revelation of such anomalies. According to sources, the Ministry of Health received a call from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Expatriates Follow-up General Department at the Ministry of Interior regarding the issue.

As a result, four expatriates were ordered to repeat the tests (complete body examination) at the Tuberculosis Control Unit, including a blood test for Hepatitis B and C and HIV, as well as a chest X-ray. According to sources, two of the expatriates tested positive for Hepatitis B and the other two tested positive for Hepatitis C, but all four expatriates' X-ray readings were normal.
