Vacate Chalets In Doha West By March 31, Finance Tells Owners
The Ministry of Finance has started sending notifications via the Sahel application to occupants of the Doha West chalets, instructing them to vacate the properties by March 31, 2025. This step aligns with the Kuwait Municipality’s plans to develop the Jahra Waterfront Project (Corniche), as per Municipal Council’s Resolution No. MB/F6/164/06/2024/D3.
Project Scope and Economic Impact
The Jahra Waterfront Project spans approximately 5.8 million square meters, extending from the Doha West Power Station to the Jahra Nature Reserve. It is expected to generate around 25,000 job opportunities, significantly contributing to Kuwait’s ‘New Kuwait 2035’ vision.
Evacuation and Chalet Lease Termination
The Ministry of Finance is overseeing the evacuation of 116 chalets and will transfer the cleared area to the Kuwait Municipality once the current lease contracts are terminated. Previously, some chalet owners had appealed for a six-month lease extension, but the request was denied to prevent project delays.
Project Timeline and Private Sector Involvement
After the chalets are vacated in early April 2025, the Kuwait Municipality’s Projects Department will prepare a conditions booklet for the project. The development will be offered to the private sector in the latter half of 2025, in accordance with relevant regulations.
Environmental Considerations
The project will be implemented with continuous coordination with the Environment Public Authority to ensure environmental sustainability throughout all phases of construction.
