The United States Embassy in Kuwait on Tuesday emphasized the enduring strategic ties between Kuwait and the US, highlighting their shared commitment to regional security and stability.
Memorial Day Event Celebrates Historic US-Kuwait Cooperation
In a joint event hosted on Monday evening in collaboration with the American Business Council-Kuwait (ABCK), the embassy commemorated Memorial Day — a day dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of American service members. The event featured remarks from US Ambassador Karen Sasahara and US Air Force Colonel Matthew Johnson, both underscoring the symbolic importance of Memorial Day and the deep partnership between the two nations.
Honoring Sacrifice and Commitment to Peace
Ambassador Sasahara and Colonel Johnson highlighted the significance of this occasion as not only a tribute to American military sacrifice but also a reaffirmation of Kuwait and the United States’ ongoing dedication to peace and security in the Gulf region.
Documentary Screening: Liberation of Kuwait
The event included a poignant documentary screening focusing on the Liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation. This film showcased firsthand narratives from American, coalition, and Kuwaiti participants, reflecting over 30 years of military collaboration and shared sacrifice in Kuwait and the broader Gulf.
Strong Bilateral Relations Beyond Defense
Attended by senior Kuwaiti officials, US diplomatic mission members, and ABCK representatives, the gathering reflected the robust bilateral relationship that extends beyond defense. Cooperation spans education, commerce, and cultural exchange, further cementing ties between Kuwait and the United States.
The embassy’s statement emphasized that this longstanding partnership remains a cornerstone for regional stability, continually strengthened by multi-sector collaboration.
