Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan led a crucial meeting to assess the latest developments in the implementation of Kuwait's new airport project (T2). The meeting was attended by Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), as well as representatives from the Ministry of Interior.
Strategic Importance of the New Airport
The new airport is a cornerstone of Kuwait’s infrastructure modernization and is integral to the vision of New Kuwait 2035. Dr. Al-Mashaan emphasized that this project will play a pivotal role in transforming Kuwait into a regional and global financial and commercial hub, attracting investment and fostering economic growth.
Collaboration with Relevant Authorities
Representatives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Ministry of Interior, and other government bodies are working together to ensure the project's success. Dr. Al-Mashaan noted the importance of cooperation between these agencies to overcome any challenges that may arise during the implementation of the project.
Challenges and Solutions in the Project
Initial work has commenced, with earthworks and excavation reaching the required levels for both the food equipment building and the tunnels. The contractor also reported that any obstacles in the project have been removed in cooperation with the concerned authorities, including the Ministries of Interior, Electricity and Water, and other relevant entities.
Key Components of Package 3
One of the key components of Package 3, which complements Packages 1 and 2, includes the food equipment building, the technical support and service center (which features a security point and security checks for employees and goods), a waste disposal area, service tunnels on the airside, and aircraft corridors and parking lots.
Commitment to International Standards in Civil Aviation
Dr. Al-Mashaan emphasized Kuwait’s dedication to adopting the best international standards in civil aviation, ensuring that the new airport will meet the highest quality and efficiency requirements in line with global norms.
Conclusion: A Pivotal Project for Kuwait's Future
This ambitious project remains a cornerstone of Kuwait’s broader infrastructure modernization efforts and will support the country’s long-term vision of becoming a regional and global financial hub, fostering economic growth, and attracting investment in line with New Kuwait 2035.
