Review of Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya’s UAE Visit

The Council of Ministers convened at Bayan Palace on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, as reported by Al Qabas. Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shereeda Abdullah Al-Mousherji highlighted the review of Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya’s recent visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This visit, which involved leading the fifth session of the Joint Supreme Committee in Abu Dhabi, included discussions with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Strengthening Kuwait-UAE Relations

The discussions centered on enhancing the strong ties between Kuwait and the UAE, focusing on cooperation across various sectors and supporting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in addressing both regional and global challenges. Al-Yahya also reported on the outcomes of the Joint Higher Committee meeting, where several agreements were signed, further solidifying the bilateral relationship in critical areas.

New Kuwaiti Embassy Headquarters in Abu Dhabi

The council acknowledged the inauguration of Kuwait’s new embassy headquarters in Abu Dhabi. This significant milestone was marked by the presence of UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Advancements in Kuwait-China Agreements

The meeting also covered the recent visit of a Chinese government delegation to Kuwait. Dr. Noura Mohammed Al-Mashan, Minister of Public Works, detailed the activation of agreements between Kuwait and China, including the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project. This project aims to establish a secure regional corridor and commercial center, aligning with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's directives.

Implementation of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port Project

Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Nora Suleiman Al-Fassam, discussed the collaborative efforts with the Chinese delegation, emphasizing the project's impact on Kuwait’s development.

Preparing for the 2024-2025 Academic Year

With the new academic year approaching, Dr. Nader Abdullah Al-Jalal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Education, presented the ministry’s preparations for the 2024-2025 academic year. This includes the renovation and maintenance of schools, securing teaching staff and textbooks, and selecting nutrition companies for school canteens.

Government’s Commitment to Education

The Council of Ministers expressed gratitude for the efforts of Dr. Al-Jalal and the Ministry of Education employees, underscoring the importance of providing an optimal educational environment to foster student success.

Enhancing Protection of Natural Reserves

The Council directed the Public Authority for Environment to collaborate with the Fatwa and Legislation Department to amend laws related to criminal and financial penalties for violations in nature reserves. This measure aims to enforce Environmental Protection Law No. 42 of 2014 and ensure the preservation of natural habitats.

Recognition of Kuwaiti Paralympic Athlete Faisal Al-Rajhi

The Council congratulated Kuwaiti athlete Faisal Al-Rajhi on winning a bronze medal in the 5000-meter wheelchair running competition at the Paralympic Games in Paris. They commended his achievement and extended their best wishes for continued success in international sports.
