‘No Need For Panic Buying’
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has activated an emergency plan in cooperation with relevant authorities following the closure of airspace over Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Syria due to heightened regional tensions. DGCA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi confirmed collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, Kuwait Fire Force, Ministry of Health, airlines, and other entities to ensure the safety of incoming, outgoing, and transit flights.
Flight Cancellations and Diversions
All flights to the affected countries have been suspended. Some have been diverted to alternate airports, with temporary accommodations provided to passengers until rerouting is arranged through safe air corridors. Kuwait Airways canceled several Saturday flights, including KU563/KU564 to and from Amman and KU503/KU504 to and from Beirut, based on security assessments and coordination with DGCA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Food Supply and Market Stability Reassured
The Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed that Kuwait’s strategic stock of food and basic commodities is stable. Coordination with the Union of Cooperative Societies and other government bodies ensures supply chain flow and price stability. Minister Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah stressed that regulatory teams are ensuring uninterrupted service and availability of essential goods across markets.
Commerce Ministry and Cooperatives Maintain Supply Chain
Emergency teams from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry inspected warehouses to verify stock levels and ensure continued supply. The Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies affirmed that the availability of goods stems from prior planning, not emergency reactions. It continues coordinating with suppliers to maintain market stability and prevent disruptions.
Education Sector Prepared for Emergency
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is monitoring regional developments and has activated its emergency plans. The summer semester will begin as scheduled, and educational institutions remain ready to ensure safety and continuity of academic services.
US Embassy Clarifies Position
The US Embassy in Kuwait confirmed that US forces are not involved in Israeli military operations against Iran. Citizens were advised to exercise caution and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
Kuwait Condemns Israeli Aggression
Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli attacks on Iran, calling them violations of international law and threats to regional peace. The Supreme Defense Council, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, emphasized unified national preparedness.
Ongoing Israel-Iran Escalation
Israel’s strike on Iranian military and nuclear sites killed senior Iranian officials, prompting retaliatory missile attacks from Iran. Both sides have exchanged threats, with rising concerns over broader conflict. Kuwaiti leadership continues to call for international intervention and restraint.
