Ministry Calls For Reduced Electricity Use As Demand Rises With Heat
The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has urged citizens and residents to reduce electricity usage during the summer peak to help avoid outages and maintain essential services.
Heatwave Expected to Increase Power Demand
Ministry spokesperson Eng. Fatima Jawhar Hayat stated that temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days, which will significantly increase electricity consumption. She encouraged the public to adopt energy-saving practices to relieve pressure on the national grid.
Scheduled Power Cuts as a Last Resort
Hayat explained that the ministry might resort to limited scheduled power cuts only when absolutely necessary, to preserve the stability and efficiency of the electrical system.
Transparent Communication and Reliable Information
She emphasized the ministry's commitment to transparency and urged the public to follow official media channels for updates. Residents are advised not to spread rumors or rely on unverified sources.
Proactive Measures, Not Emergency Response
Hayat clarified that these procedures are not linked to technical faults or regional developments. They are routine measures previously applied during similar conditions of extreme heat and high power demand.
Shared Responsibility for Energy Conservation
The ministry reiterated its dedication to ensuring a stable power supply while calling on the public to participate by conserving energy, especially during peak hours.
