Ministers Inspect Central Operations Room To Ensure Market Stability
In a proactive step to safeguard market transparency and consumer rights, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel and Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwaila conducted an inspection visit to the Ministry of Commerce’s central operations room, a key unit in real-time market surveillance.
Operations Room Strengthens Real-Time Market Monitoring
The operations room, directly connected to the Ministry of Interior, plays a pivotal role in monitoring commercial activities across Kuwait. This integrated system allows for swift detection of market irregularities and enhances the efficiency of regulatory responses.
Al-Ajeel: Market Stability is a National Responsibility
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Minister Al-Ajeel emphasized that maintaining market stability is a shared national responsibility. He called on all relevant entities to collaborate in ensuring price control, fair trade, and sufficient stock levels.
Inspection Briefing: Reports and Coordination
During the visit, both ministers received updates on the incoming reports from field teams. They reviewed procedures used to track violations, price manipulation, or shortages in basic goods.
Al-Ajeel stressed the need for ongoing coordination among agencies to guarantee the availability of essential commodities and smooth functioning of food markets, especially during peak demand periods or emergencies.
Cooperative Societies to Collaborate in Market Oversight
The Minister of Commerce further revealed that the Ministry of Social Affairs has been asked to liaise with cooperative societies in Kuwait to foster better collaboration with the operations room. This will allow more integrated oversight while respecting the operational independence of each institution.
Efforts are already underway to ensure cooperative societies are aligned with national goals to stabilize prices and prevent exploitation, especially in sectors impacting daily living.
Essential Goods and Strategic Stock Confirmed
Al-Ajeel reassured citizens and residents that Kuwait's strategic stock of food and essential commodities remains intact. “The market situation is fully under control with sufficient reserves to meet demand,” he said, referencing the ministry’s contingency strategies already in effect.
