Kuwait’s Traffic Department Reports Over 43,000 Violations in a Week-Long Crackdown

The General Traffic Department in Kuwait has reported a surge in enforcement actions between February 1 and 7, resulting in:

  • 47 juveniles referred to the Juvenile Prosecution.
  • 48 individuals placed in precautionary detention.
  • A staggering 43,760 traffic violations recorded.
  • 41 vehicles and 43 motorcycles impounded and sent to the detention garage.

Criminal and Legal Actions

As part of these efforts, authorities also took additional legal actions, including:

  • Referring two individuals to the General Department for Combating Drugs.
  • Transferring two persons found in an abnormal condition to the relevant authorities.
  • Detaining three individuals without proof of identity for further investigation.

Enhanced Surveillance and Traffic Monitoring

The General Traffic Department has intensified its 24/7 monitoring across Kuwait’s roads and intersections. Traffic officers are strategically positioned at key locations, while surveillance cameras provide real-time monitoring to enhance road safety.

Accident and Report Statistics

The Operations Department processed 3,089 reports during this period. Additionally, traffic accident reports highlighted:

  • 1,676 accidents, including:
    • 1,420 collision-only incidents
    • 256 accidents involving both collisions and injuries
