Kuwaiti Citizen Faces Life Sentence For Drug Trafficking And Resisting Arrest
The General Department of Narcotics Control (GDNC) has referred a Kuwaiti citizen to the Public Prosecution on multiple criminal charges, including possession and trafficking of psychotropic substances, resisting and injuring law enforcement officers, and damaging public property.
A legal expert emphasized the gravity of these offenses, noting that resisting an officer from the GDNC could result in a prison sentence of up to 15 years, while brandishing a firearm at law enforcement could lead to a life sentence. Given the severity of the accused’s actions—including drug trafficking, violent resistance, and causing damage to Ministry of Interior property—the individual may face a life imprisonment sentence.
Case Details: Drug Trafficking and Violent Resistance
According to security sources, authorities received intelligence that the suspect was engaged in the illegal distribution of Lyrica, a controlled psychotropic substance. Reports indicated that the individual was supplying these narcotic pills in public parking areas and other high-traffic locations.
After conducting extensive investigations, the authorities obtained a judicial warrant following a successful undercover operation. Investigators arranged to purchase 50 Lyrica pills from the accused, with the transaction set to take place in the Jahra area.
At the agreed meeting point, the suspect handed over the pills to the undercover officer, at which point law enforcement moved in to make an arrest. However, the accused attempted to escape in his vehicle, resulting in a high-speed chase. During the pursuit, he collided with four Anti-Narcotics Force vehicles, causing injuries to multiple officers.
Following his apprehension, authorities discovered a knife and 5,000 Lyrica capsules in his possession. During interrogations, the suspect confessed to engaging in drug trafficking.
Strict Measures Against Drug Trafficking
This case underscores the intensified efforts by the General Department of Narcotics Control in Kuwait to combat drug-related crimes. The Ministry of Interior continues to enforce strict laws against drug trafficking, ensuring that offenders face severe legal consequences.
