Kuwait Takes Steps To Boost National Employment In Government Contracts
The Manpower Authority has taken decisive steps to implement the Demographic Structure Amendment Committee's decision on Kuwaitization of government contracts. This initiative aims to boost youth employment in the private sector, urging government agencies to scrutinize contracts for job security clauses and conditions fostering national employment growth.
As part of the strategy, the Authority is formulating conditions and procedures mandating contractors to provide benefits like health insurance, annual travel tickets, and structured salaries for workers. These proposed conditions are awaiting approval from the Council of Ministers.
Official sources indicate that the anticipated surge in national employment within government contracts could yield a minimum of 5,000 job opportunities for Kuwaitis in the coming year, potentially reducing reliance on expatriate labor in these contracts.
The Public Authority for Manpower is actively collaborating with the Ministry of Finance and the General Secretariat for Planning to initiate practical measures aimed at increasing Kuwaiti quotas within government contracts.
