Kuwait Is Racing Against United Kingdom Extradition Treaty
Minister of Justice and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Faleh Al-Azab said the government of Kuwait is racing against time to sign the extradition treaty with the United Kingdom, reports Al-Rai daily.
The minister said the agreement is expected to be discussed by the National Assembly during the current term and it will be one of the top priorities. He added the agreement has been sent to the Fatwa and Legislation department of the National Assembly following approval by the Cabinet’s Legal Committee. It will then be sent to the National Assembly for the final nod.
Al-Azab added the agreement will come into force immediately after the approval and ratification by HH the Amir, and published in Kuwait Al-Yawm, Kuwait’s official gazette. “If approved, under this treaty Kuwait will request the extradition of the former Director- General of the Public Institute for Social Security Fahd Al-Raja’an and all Kuwaitis wanted by the Kuwaiti judiciary,” Al-Azab said.
