The State of Kuwait has declared an official mourning period of 40 days due to the demise of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. This declaration was made after an extraordinary meeting held at Seif Palace, led by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh. As part of this period of mourning, all official departments in Kuwait will be closed for three days starting from Tuesday. This closure is a mark of respect and mourning for the late Amir
This period of mourning reflects the significant impact of the late Amir on the nation and the deep respect and reverence he held among the Kuwaiti people. The closure of government offices for three days is an expression of the collective grief and the high regard in which he was held. Flags are also expected to be flown at half-mast over government buildings during this period, as is customary during national mourning.
The loss of His Highness the Amir is a significant moment for Kuwait, marking the end of an era and a time for the nation to come together in remembrance and respect.
