Kuwait Court Delivers 15-Year Sentence For Failed Robbery
The Criminal Court, led by Counselor Mutab Al-Ardi, sentenced a former Ministry of Interior officer to 15 years in prison with hard labor for his involvement in a robbery and attempted robbery of a money exchange office in Fintas.
The Robbery Attempt
In August, the accused stole a taxi and attempted to rob a money exchange office in Fintas. Armed with a firearm, he threatened an employee but failed to complete the crime due to a weapon malfunction. The suspect then fled the scene using the stolen taxi.
Criminal Investigation and Arrest
The Criminal Security Sector, specifically the Ahmadi Governorate Investigations Department, launched an extensive investigation. Detectives worked diligently to gather evidence and track the suspect's movements using surveillance footage, leading to his identification and arrest.
Defendant's Confession and Psychiatric Evaluation Request
Upon his arrest, the accused confessed to the crime and disclosed the location where he had hidden the firearm. The defendant’s lawyer requested a psychiatric evaluation during the trial, but the court rejected the plea and found him guilty on all charges.
Conclusion and Justice Served
The court sentenced the accused to 15 years in prison with hard labor, highlighting the swift action of the Criminal Security Sector and the justice system in addressing armed robbery cases.
