Iraq and Kuwait Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Simplified Visa Procedures and Climate Cooperation

The Iraqi Ambassador to Kuwait, Al-Manhal Al-Safi, has announced a streamlined process for issuing entry visas to Iraqi citizens traveling to Kuwait. This initiative follows the successful mechanism implemented during the Arabian Gulf Cup 26, which facilitated the entry of over 17,000 Iraqi visitors and more than 1,500 vehicles without significant delays or violations.

Al-Safi emphasized that the new approach reflects strong coordination between Iraq and Kuwait, fostering smoother travel procedures. He also commended the fruitful discussions between Amiri Diwan advisor Mohammad Abu Al-Hassan and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani in Iraq. Their meeting addressed mutual concerns and laid the groundwork for future collaboration.

In a strategic move to enhance diplomatic relations, Iraq has appointed Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Ulum as a personal envoy to the Iraqi Prime Minister, while Kuwait has designated Mohammad Abu Al-Hassan as a personal envoy to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. These appointments signify a commitment to strengthening diplomatic communication between the two nations.

He also held discussions with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf to enhance coordination between Iraq and Kuwait in tackling climate-related issues.

Dr. Al-Askari expressed gratitude to Kuwait for hosting the forum, emphasizing the significance of Arab cooperation in addressing environmental and geopolitical challenges. He noted that Iraq has been severely impacted by climate change, citing droughts, decreasing rainfall, earthquakes in the northern regions, and desertification. The Iraqi Ministry of Environment continues to collaborate with other ministries to mitigate disaster risks and implement sustainable solutions.
