In A Shocking Case, Man Divorces Wife Just For Walking Ahead Of Him
On the day Indian Supreme Court suspended the use of Triple Talaq in Islam to divorce a woman, a case has emerged in Saudi Arabia that has shocked one and all due to its callous nature. A woman in Saudi Arabia was divorced by her husband merely for walking ahead of him despite repeated warnings, according to NDTV. The man who has not been identified gave his wife repeated warnings to keep a step behind him, but she kept walking ahead of him after which, he divorced her, The Gulf News quoted the Saudi daily Al Watan as saying.
While this case was enough to make everyone wonder why it happened. In another case, a Saudi man divorced his wife after she forgot to serve the sheep’s head (“which is supposed to be the most important part of dinner”) while serving food as her husband was hosting his friend at their house, the report said. The wife was quoted as saying that once the guests left, her husband accused her of embarrassing him by forgetting to serve the most important part of the dinner to his guests. In another case, a woman was divorced by her husband during their honeymoon for wearing foot bangles!
;According to the report, the increasing numbers of divorces for random reason in the kingdom has made the Saudis alarmed and this has also increased the need for counseling services for married couples, especially among the newlyweds.
Humood Al Shimmari, an official who conducts marriages while talking about the increase in the number of divorces said that there has been a sudden increase in divorce cases over the last two years. He added, that evolving views towards traditions and social norms is a reason behind it, modern technology was the key culprit.
