In 4 Months, The Municipality Recorded 52 Violations Of Building Regulations
The Kuwait Municipality is diligently conducting inspection campaigns across all six governorates to identify and rectify construction violations, prioritizing the safety of workers and individuals overseeing residential construction projects. The fourth campaign, situated in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area within the Capital Governorate, aimed to address serious security and safety breaches.
Abdullah Al-Jaber, the construction supervisor in the Engineering Audit and Follow-up Department of the Capital Municipality, highlighted that the campaign focused on inspecting buildings under construction in Jaber Al-Ahmad. Numerous violations were identified, leading to the issuance of reports and warnings to responsible contractors.
Violations included unsafe conditions for workers, such as the presence of a fire hazard near a construction site, prompting immediate evacuation and legal action against the contractor. Other observed infractions involved workers neglecting safety measures, such as not wearing helmets, and pouring concrete without proper supervision or adherence to safety protocols. These violations are forwarded to Kuwait Municipality authorities for legal actions, emphasizing adherence to regulations.
Al-Jaber emphasized the municipality's commitment to these year-round campaigns across all governorates, underscoring their role in sending a clear message to stakeholders to abide by laws and regulations. Despite potential hindrances to construction timelines, the municipality prioritizes worker safety and the security of buildings and their surroundings.
Over the past four months, the Capital Municipality issued 52 violation reports and 16 warnings related to building regulations. Additionally, 14 engineering offices and contractors faced repercussions for non-compliance.
In a separate initiative, the Public Cleanliness and Road Works Department in Al-Ahmadi Governorate responded to a social media complaint by removing 17 illegal camps in the Al-Ahmadi area. The municipality urged citizens planning spring camps to adhere to designated areas, emphasizing that inspection teams will promptly remove camps set up outside authorized locations. Strict compliance with regulations ensures a safe and controlled camping environment.
