Active Southeasterly Winds and Dust Storms Expected in Kuwait, Urging Caution on Highways and Marine Activities

The Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, has forecasted that Kuwait will experience active southeasterly winds until Thursday morning. These winds are expected to exceed speeds of 60 kilometers per hour, resulting in dust storms across some regions, particularly in open and exposed areas.

Impact of Dust Storms on Visibility and Coastal Conditions

Al-Ali explained that the dust storms would significantly reduce horizontal visibility and contribute to rough seas with waves exceeding 7 feet. This combination could pose risks for motorists and those planning to engage in marine activities.

Urgent Safety Precautions for the Public

The Meteorology Department is urging the public to exercise caution due to reduced visibility, particularly on highways. Al-Ali advises postponing any marine activities due to the dangerous wave heights. Additionally, he recommended wearing protective masks to guard against the rising dust, especially for those with respiratory issues.

Coastal Areas at Risk of High Humidity

In some coastal areas, high relative humidity is expected, which could exacerbate allergy and asthma symptoms for sensitive individuals. The department emphasizes the importance of taking preventive measures to reduce exposure to allergens and maintain health during this weather event.

Possibility of Light Rain on Thursday

While dust storms are the main concern, Al-Ali also indicated the possibility of scattered light rain on Thursday, providing some temporary relief from the hot and dusty conditions.
