Food Safety And Quality Assurance Measures For Ramadan
Dr. Nawaf Al-Enezi, the Director of Farwaniya Governorate Inspection Department at the Food and Nutrition Public Authority, has affirmed the continuous inspection and control efforts aimed at food establishments year-round. Highlighting the significance of ensuring food safety and quality, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, Dr. Al-Anazi stressed the commitment to safeguarding consumer health.
In the past year, 2023, Dr. Al-Anazi revealed that 325 tons of food unfit for human consumption were disposed of, with 447 violations recorded and 42 food facilities shut down.
Under Law No. 112 of 2013, establishing the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, stringent control and inspection measures are implemented on food establishments, ensuring compliance with health specifications and regulations.
In 2023, authorities enforced rigorous measures, including the destruction of unfit food, issuance of new licenses, renewal of existing licenses, and issuance of delivery permits and export certificates.
Preparations for Ramadan involve intensified inspection campaigns targeting food establishments across Farwaniya Governorate. The department, operating through various centers, ensures comprehensive oversight, with a focus on digital integration and technical enhancement.
Efforts also include organizing training courses for staff to enhance skills and promote career development. Dr. Al-Enezi emphasized the importance of adherence to health requirements and commended inspectors for their diligence and integrity.
The fees collected for transactions in 2023 amounted to 109,445 thousand dinars, facilitated through the governorate.
