Exit Permit Must Be Applied For 24 Hours To 7 Days Before Travel
The Kuwaiti authorities have clarified that travelers must apply for an exit permit no earlier than seven days and no later than 24 hours before departure, due to the document’s limited validity. They also confirmed that individuals can request leave multiple times across different periods, depending on their needs.
Ministry Responds to Delay in Exit Permits
Following media reports on delays in issuing exit permits for expatriate teachers in Kuwait, the Ministry of Education has issued a circular to educational district directors and the Religious Education Department. The directive aims to standardize and expedite the process of approving exit permits.
Electronic System Implementation
The circular, approved by acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs Mansour Al-Dhafiri, announced the integration of exit permit approvals into the electronic system. This decision was made in coordination with the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and after updating system data. Exit permits will now be issued solely through the integrated system across all educational districts.
The Ministry emphasized that no paper-based school departure forms will be accepted. Instead, approvals must be completed electronically through the system. The responsibility for the accuracy and validity of these procedures will lie with each relevant entity.
Steps for Exit Permit Issuance
- Enter employee data into the system
- Specify the type and date of leave
- Submit the request for approval by the direct supervisor
- Final approval to be completed by the employer electronically
The system also features tracking mechanisms to monitor departure and return times.
Administrative Discipline and Compliance
Al-Dhafiri urged all departments to prioritize the implementation of this system immediately. He stressed the importance of adhering to the official administrative hierarchy and the procedures manual attached to the circular. This move aims to prevent attendance violations and promote transparency and discipline across schools.
