Asian Expat Attempts Suicide By Consuming Toxic Cleaner
An Asian expatriate was urgently airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after reportedly attempting suicide by consuming a toxic cleaning detergent. The incident occurred on a farm located in the Abdali region of northern Kuwait.
According to a security source, the Ministry of Interior’s operations room received a distress call from the victim’s friend, who discovered him unconscious next to a cleaning fluid container.
Rapid Emergency Response Ensured Timely Evacuation
Emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. Due to the gravity of the man’s condition, he was transported by helicopter to a specialized hospital facility to receive life-saving medical attention.
Authorities confirmed that the man remains in critical condition. A legal case will be filed, and once his condition stabilizes, he will be questioned to uncover the circumstances that led to the suicide attempt.
Investigation Underway Amid Concerns Over Expat Mental Health
This tragic incident raises concerns about mental health support for expatriates working in remote and isolated areas of Kuwait. Similar cases have occurred in the past, including a recent Asian worker’s tragic fall at a construction site, drawing attention to the psychological and safety challenges faced by migrant workers.
Authorities continue to stress the importance of mental health awareness and access to support services for vulnerable communities in the country.
Related Incidents and Safety Measures
Kuwait has witnessed a number of distressing incidents involving migrant workers, which highlight the need for improved living and working conditions. For example, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health and Ministry of Interior have coordinated on campaigns to monitor and improve worker safety and well-being.
Employers are encouraged to be vigilant and proactive in identifying early signs of mental distress among their staff, especially those employed in remote locations such as farms and construction sites.
