Official statistics reveal that 56,689 women from various nationalities have obtained Kuwaiti citizenship through marriage to Kuwaiti men by the beginning of 2020, in accordance with Article 8 of the nationality law. Former Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hamoud reported that up to 1992, 18,184 women were granted citizenship under this provision. From 1993 to early 2020, an additional 38,505 women acquired Kuwaiti nationality.

In a parliamentary response, former Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anas Al-Saleh provided a decade-wise analysis:
