1,800 Citizens With Revoked Nationalities Under Scrutiny For Housing Benefits
In recent developments, over 1,800 individuals in Kuwait have had their citizenships revoked after receiving significant government support. The government provided these individuals with construction subsidies totaling 30,000 KD for residential plots. Additionally, authorities are conducting a comprehensive audit to determine whether these individuals also benefited from housing loans worth up to 70,000 KD from the Credit Bank.
Government Review and Audits
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is actively reviewing records to identify the recipients of construction subsidies and housing loans. The aim is to ensure that financial benefits have only been granted to legitimate Kuwaiti citizens. A detailed report is being prepared for relevant authorities to investigate the situation further.
Possible Suspension of Construction Support Payments
As part of the ongoing review, measures are being considered to halt or limit construction support payments to individuals whose citizenships were revoked, particularly those whose support was disbursed before or during the withdrawal process. This decision reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that financial assistance is appropriately directed.
Impact on State Ration Card System
In a separate action, the Ministry of Commerce has suspended around 4,000 individuals, including beneficiaries and their dependents, from the state ration card system following the withdrawal of their nationalities. This suspension is part of a broader effort to ensure that subsidies, rations, and other state benefits are reserved for valid Kuwaiti citizens.
Tightening Control Over Financial Benefits
These actions are part of a larger initiative to tighten controls on the distribution of government resources. Authorities aim to ensure that only those with valid citizenship can access financial and material benefits such as subsidies and state rations. Additionally, the government's focus is on strengthening transaction monitoring in state institutions and banks to prevent fraud and misuse of resources.
Conclusion
The government’s efforts to review and audit the disbursement of subsidies, loans, and ration cards reflect a strong stance on ensuring that state benefits are limited to eligible citizens. As the audit continues, more measures are expected to be implemented to maintain transparency and fairness in the allocation of public resources.
