The Public Authority for Industry (PAI) has intensified its enforcement efforts to address violations of the Industry Law, emphasizing its commitment to protecting state property and ensuring the proper utilization of industrial resources in Kuwait.
Industrial Plot Closure in Sabhan
A company operating in the Sabhan Industrial Area faced stern action after it was discovered to be renting out its industrial plot to others, a practice explicitly prohibited by the Industry Law and its executive regulations. As a result, the PAI ordered the closure of the industrial plot.
According to the Authority, the penalty will remain in effect until the violations and their repercussions are rectified. If the company fails to address the issue within a month, stricter penalties will be imposed.
Warning for State Property Encroachment
In a related case, another company received a warning from the PAI for committing two major violations, including encroaching on state property. The violation involved placing counters outside the designated boundaries of its industrial plot, occupying approximately 200 square meters of public land.
The company has been instructed to remove the encroachment within a month. Should it fail to comply, the Authority has warned of stricter measures to ensure adherence to industrial regulations.
Broader Enforcement Actions by PAI
The PAI has recently ramped up its enforcement activities, canceling several industrial licenses for non-compliance. Common violations include:
- Renting industrial facilities to third parties.
- Leaving industrial plots unused.
In the past few weeks, the Authority’s Permanent Committee for Industrial Violations has taken action against 16 industrial facilities and factories. These measures include:
- Closing three industrial plots.
- Issuing warnings to 13 facilities for various infractions.
