Young Man Filed A Lawsuit Against His Father
In an unprecedented move in the history of the Kuwaiti judiciary, an 18-yearold youth has filed a lawsuit against his father and a medical committee in the Ministry of Health, reports Al-Rai daily.
In the lawsuit, the plaintiff holds the father responsible for his disability, and accuses him benefiting from his condition. The father in 2009 went to the Ministry of Health with his son and claimed he was mentally disabled. The child was examined by a medical committee which confirmed his mental disability and his father benefited from a large amount of money granted by the state to the disabled people.
In his complaint to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the young man said that he is now 18 and no one will accept his hand in marriage and the ministries have turned down his application for employment under the pretext he is mentally disabled.
The Public Prosecution after hearing the complainant requested to refer the complainant to a medical committee and the committee ruled the young man is mentally healthy.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to summon the father, who has received large sums of money from the state, and the medical committee, which had previously issued a report that the complainant is disabled for investigation and reveal the truth about the falsification of the report.
