Shocking X-ray images showed that the scars and damage caused by the "Corona" virus on the patients' lungs make them worse than the lungs of smokers, according to a report by the British newspaper "The Sun" and published on the site "Arab Post".

Previous reports indicated that 90% of a selected sample of patients recovering from the Corona virus in a prominent hospital in the Chinese city of Wuhan - the epicenter of the outbreak - reported that they had suffered lung damage, and 5% of them were quarantined again, after it was confirmed that they were infected with the Coronavirus. again.

Brittany Bankhead-Kendall, an assistant professor at the Health Sciences Center at Texas Tech University, who has treated thousands of coronavirus patients since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, shared the photos.

The images show the lungs of a normal person, the lungs of a smoker, and the lungs of a patient infected with the Coronavirus.

The normal lungs also appear in a dark and transparent form, while the lung of a smoker appears partially white and has some scars, while the lung of a person infected with Coronavirus is almost opaque at all in some parts.

Dr Brittany wrote on Twitter: “I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the lungs after catching Covid look worse than the lungs of the stubborn smokers we have ever seen. It collapses, blood clots with it, and shortness of breath continues. ”

Speaking later to CBS 11 of America, Brittany said: "After I shared the pictures on Twitter, I cannot tell you how many responses I have received regarding people with this particular problem."

She also explained that among the people she treated, chest X-rays were this bad in those who had symptoms, and she added that even in people who did not show symptoms, the X-rays were just as bad in about three quarters of cases.

She added that it has not yet been clear whether any scars resulting from the Corona virus will heal with time, but anyone who suffers from permanent shortness of breath should speak to his doctor.

And while doctors warned in advance about the long-term repercussions of Corona, and the set of symptoms that many of those who recovered from the virus suffered, and these symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, muscle and joint pain, and fogginess.
