Worker-employer Disputes Resolved By Pam

The Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) reported, in a recent report on its efforts to resolve labor disputes between employers and employees, as well as disputes between domestic workers' sponsors and recruitment offices, it had helped amicably resolve 290 cases that were submitted by workers and their sponsors.

PAM's domestic worker recruitment regulatory department received 17 complaints from sponsors in March 2022, according to figures in the report. In addition, the statistics show that the department received 183 complaints from sponsors against recruitment offices, and 181 complaints from laborers against business owners.

Following up on complaints it received, PAM disclosed that it referred 63 to the judiciary. These included 8 labor complaints involving employees quitting their jobs, as well as 37 labor complaints relating to employers denying work permits and passports. In the report, the authority also revealed that the authority collected a total of 77,000 KD from recruitment offices on behalf of employers.

The figures show that there are 420 domestic worker recruitment offices operating in the country, 42 of which were licensed to operate in March, and five of which have had their licenses revoked.
