Work Ongoing To Reduce Obstacles Faced By Kuwaiti, Expat Travelers
The concerned government agencies are seeking to overcome the obstacles facing travelers – both citizens and residents – due to restrictions related to travel and return procedures, the immunization requirements, and the approval of vaccination certificates and their own regulations, reports Al-Rai daily. The Ministry of Health explained that the approval of documents and certificates of COVID-19 vaccination issued abroad is only done through the electronic link specified for this purpose by the ministry. It does not take place through review in any department in the ministry.
According to informed sources, an upcoming meeting will be held between the officials of the Ministry of Health and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to discuss some of the relevant observations that accompanied the start of implementing the decision to allow the return of non-Kuwaitis who were vaccinated with the approved vaccines and other procedures.
The sources said, “The meeting will focus on finding a mechanism for approving vaccination certificates for Gulf nationals or visa holders who are banned from traveling to Kuwait for not obtaining a green signal from the “Immunity” app, or cannot be registered on the application because they do not have a civil number. Immunization by taking any of the vaccines approved in Kuwait is the standard to allow entry to the country, in addition to other requirements such as a negative PCR test result.
This applies to all countries including those that require passengers to be quarantined in a third country for a period of 14 days. Those who completed vaccination inside Kuwait, or whose vaccination certificates that were obtained abroad have been checked and approved, can enter Kuwait without the need to stay in any third country before arrival. These procedures have nothing to do with the presence or absence of direct flights with a country.” The sources highlighted that work is ongoing to solve the problem of entry of Gulf nationals and visa holders particularly the medical personnel. They said the Ministry of Health is preparing a list of detailed instructions regarding the health procedures applied to travelers that will be circulated by DGCA, and will be applied automatically without causing disruption or confusion for citizens and residents.
